JOB TITLE: Characterization Engineer/Microbiologist

The Characterization Engineer will play a key role in supporting the introduction of new water disinfection products from conception through test/validation and production.  The Characterization Engineer ensures designs are effective by testing and characterizing prototypes and production-intent systems for the successful and on-schedule production release of a new product. A biomedical engineering background or biologist with engineering experience preferred.




  1. Establish laboratory characterization methods to measure efficacy of disinfection modules.
  2. Perform product and prototype testing.
  3. Manage product validation, including preparing, reviewing, and presenting test reports consistent with safety and quality standards. Work with internal and offshore test facilities where necessary.  
  4. Develop strategies to resolve difficult problems utilizing test results, analytical data, statistics and problem-solving tools.
  5. Work closely with R&D, Operations, Product Management, Applications Engineering and Quality to accomplish these tasks, as they relate to sample, pre-production and full production release of a product.  






  • A Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Biology with hands-on experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in laboratory testing
  • Exceptional team communication skills to interface with internal cross-functional teams
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
  • Experience with or participation in US and international testing standards (NSF, ONORM, etc) and regulatory standards
