Job Overview

Responsible for the development and execution of strategy(s) to effectively manage the total cost; supply continuity, supplier development, service quality, relative to assigned raw materials and projects.


Job Tasks

  • Contribute to the formulation, communication and implementation of purchasing policies, strategies and plans
  • Manage cost savings and second source projects for assigned materials
  • Negotiate contracts, supply agreements and pricing for assigned raw materials
  • Obtain improvements in supplier performance
  • Enhance purchasing KPI's
  • Maintain supplier relations, accountability, cost management/reduction and containment
  • Responsible for all aspects of assigned raw material supply base
  • Lead purchasing projects assigned by purchasing leader (direct materials and/or indirect materials)
  • Promotes a safe work environment for self and others
  • Takes the initiative to resolve issues before they become problems
  • Seeks continuous improvement through periodic assessments
  • Ensure that all activities are completed in compliance with lean, ethical and regulatory requirements, including QS 9000 / ISO 9001 / TS 16949 / A2LA.
  • The leadership of, and/or participation in, internal meetings and assigned improvement teams
  • Lead and co-lead cross-functional teams to achieve KPI's (cost savings, inventory reduction, second source qualifications, etc.)
  • Plant support activities with day to day operations


Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licensures, and Certifications)

  • BA in Business or Supply Chain preferred but not required
  • APICS or CPM Certification preferred, but not required
  • Experience in thermoplastics commodities


Required Skills

  • SAP knowledge and experience
  • Ability to perform value analysis
  • Understands lean manufacturing, Kanban systems and raw material pipeline flow
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience with indirect materials and MRO purchasing


Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel

  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Walk in plant occasionally
  • 5-10% travel
