JOB SUMMARY:

Crystal IS is looking to hire a Process Engineer - Metrology at its' Green Island, NY Corporate Headquarters.  In this role you will play a key role in the development of and maintaining processes in metrology to characterize our AlN material and in developing new process to improve the quality of AlN substrates. In order to be successful in this position the candidate should be a resourceful, self-motivated, hands-on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges within a deadline-oriented atmosphere.  The candidate will need to take part in root cause analysis, process documentation, and implementation of corrective actions to solve problem and also need to actively manage communication between the various technical groups at Crystal IS (bulk crystal growth, substrate fabrication, epitaxial growth, and device development)

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Is an expert and has experience in several characterization techniques and good understanding of the tools to evaluate III-nitride based materials from ceramic to devices: X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Instrumental Gas Analysis (IGA), Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS), x-ray topography, thermal conductivity, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), sheet resistance measurement, Photoluminescence (PL), Cathode Luminescence (CL), etc.
  2. Provides guidance to Crystal IS technical staff on use of right metrology tools.
  3. Work with CIS staff to define and implement new test procedures to increase the efficiency of material characterization
  4. Establish and maintain standard operation procedures (SOP) and quality documents for measurement protocols.
  5. Performs periodical Gauge R&R and Calibration checks of all internal characterization tools and recommend calibration standards and IM&TE.
  6. Create and maintain process FMEAs, Control Plans, Work Instructions, Material and Part Specifications.
  7. Define key process parameters; monitor critical parameters as defined on Control Plans through the use of SPC
  8. Opportunity to grow into a role of providing technical leadership in the development and manufacture of aluminum nitride semiconductor substates.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

  1. A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science/Engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  2. M.S. or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
  3. Minimum of 2 years' experience of materials characterization; experience in wide bandgap materials is strongly desired.
  4. Result-oriented with ability to manage & execute multiple projects (Project Management & Time Management) and has strong written and oral communication skills.
  5. Experience with databases and data analysis tools(SQL, Access, JMP, Excel, etc.) with basic coding knowledge to help writing macros in excel or scripts in JMP
  6. Ability to analyze statistical data and understand basic statistical concepts
