Position:  Regional Business Development Manager

Purpose of Job

The principal accountability is to manage the product promotion and Design In activities of a particular region to ensure maximum market penetration to meet or exceed Design In objectives and enhancing the stature of Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) as an AKM Semiconductor, Inc. (AKMS)'s employee.


Role Priorities:

  • Achieving Design In and Design Win results in assigned region.


Supervision Received

  • Performs work under general supervision with review and advice from senior manager but can set own work sequence and pace within the department limitations.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Provide quality leadership for AKM's internal and external customers in all assigned tasks, while upholding AKM's values at all times, inclusive of constructive problem solving, facilitating creative improvements, and inspiring others.
  • Prospect and qualify AKM's existing and/or potential customers, within assigned territory.
  • Drive new business opportunities at the strategic and tactical level.
  • Establishes an environment and foundation for future sales growth.
  • Supporting the AKM direct selling activities within the Region, inclusive of resource deployment and customer interactions.
  • Prioritize effectively and in accordance with corporate objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a full business pipeline of AKM's prospective regional clients.
  • Provide timely reporting of pipeline, account and territory management activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitors and their presence in assigned territory.
  • Apply a broad knowledge of AKM's products, and marketing techniques to develop large opportunities and close sales.
  • Partner with the Business Development, Marketing, and Applications Engineers teams to inform the customer/prospect and demonstrate AKM's capabilities.
  • Evaluate market trends and gather competitive information, identify trends that effect current and future growth of regional sales and profitability.
  • Disseminate information to AKM corporate marketing and sales operations teams.
  • Obtain production related information and inform the sales related data to division, AKMS and AKM leadership in Japan.
  • Coordinate visits to AKM's customers by development engineers and for application supports and for marketing activities.
  • Train and educate all sales promotion personnel on new products and existing products to increase AKM's business.

Selects from multiple procedures and methods to complete tasks; authority to make cross functional decisions in partnership with peers of other functions.


Leadership Provided

  • Planning of business activities in the sales territories.
  • Troubleshooting customers service issues.
  • Supervision of Territory Representatives.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor and its application such as consumer electronics, automobile electronics, industrial electronics.
  • Understand and manage all phases of the sales cycle in AKM; ability to handle technical/product inquiries.
  • Business and technical knowledge of AKM products and services to ensure all customer and sales requirements are clearly defined, agreed upon and met
  • Basic knowledge of International transactions and financial risk control.

Ability to:

  • Learn and retain product specific information and utilize to position the features and benefits to customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to exceed quarterly quota.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues.
  • Deliver results from stakeholders in a cross-functional company.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, utilize resources, identify problems and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to implement strategic partnership business & sales plan.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Management, Marketing (or related field).
  • A minimum of five [5] years experience working directly in the semiconductor industry.
  • Proven sales track record in direct sales and sales management with semiconductor .products.
  • Demonstrated track record of success building effective teams and meeting/exceeding regional sales goals.


Licensures and Certifications

 BSEE ideal but not required.



Essential Capabilities and Work Environment

  • Work usually performed in an office setting or customer setting.
  • Ability to travel [regionally/internationally] as required by role.
  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
  • Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or employees via phone and in person.
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another.
  • Extended working hours may be required as dictated by management and business needs.
