Title: Product Development Technician


Department: Technology                   

Reports to: Product Development Laboratory Supervisor

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt                                     

Job Level: 12


Job Purpose Summary:

The technician supports technology by producing experimental material and perform molding and testing to facilitate application and product development. This requires a person to work independently, balance priorities, multitask and work on a team. In addition, he or she needs to have a flexible work schedule, be reliable and be punctual.



Key Responsibilities: (8-15)

  1. Produce material using a twin screw extruder
  2. Obtain raw materials via SAP
  3. Mold specimens using an injection molding machine
  4. Conduct standard and non-standard testing
  5. Conduct assigned preventative maintenance and calibrations
  6. Keep work area in a tour ready condition
  7. Follow all standard laboratory work instructions and test methods
  8. Ensure that all activities are completed in compliance with lean, ethical and regulatory requirements, including ISO / TS 16949 / A2LA/ ISO 14001
  9. Promote a safe work environment for self and others
  10. Ensure the safety of Asahi equipment
  11. Take the initiative to resolve issues before they become problems
  12. Seek continuous improvement through periodic assessments

  • High energy individual with outstanding organizational attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licensures and Certifications): Minimum: High school education and 0-2 years appropriate experience at APNA

Preferred: 1-2 years post-secondary education in plastics and 2-5 years experience in the plastics industry laboratory focus.
