JOB SPECIFICATION (Description of position):

"Key Accounts" are selected accounts, strategic to a business and showing significant potential for sales and profits, strong position in market and technology, and geographical complexity which needs to be managed on a global basis. Key Account Manager will focus on marketing & business development activities in these strategic automotive accounts to satisfy corporate mid-term and long-term growth objectives.


 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Alignment to Dept/Co initiatives or strategies):  

Key Account Manager oversees developing and implementing the "Customer Development Plan" (CDP). The CDP starts with the strategy for the customer and therefore needs to be developed in cooperation with the business team; full agreement and acceptance are required in a global level. The CDP is not only a strategy paper, but also an important

basis to implement the strategies as a working paper.


 EXPECTATIONS (Goals, objectives, initiative etc.):


  1. Identify current and future account demand to add value and help customers.
  2. Define a joint action plan on a global basis.
  3. Update the CDP continuously and make sure that the global team has the current version.
  4. Create value package for customer and leverage value for profitable growth.
  5. Develop contacts with customers at all functions and levels including purchasing, production, logistics, marketing, sales, research and development and technical service.
  6. Develop full understanding of Asahi Kasei products, especially in Key Account related products. Ability to participate, conduct technical and marketing presentations and create reports related to customer meetings and conferences.
  7. Balance short-term and long-term objectives effectively within focused segment to support year over year growth.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education/experience):


  1. Minimum: BS in engineering or business with strong technical skills in automotive products.
  2. Preferred: BS in engineering or business with 15+ year of experience in automotive products; market development and application development.   
  3. Preferred: Previously worked in Automotive OEM or as a Key Account Manager in Major Tier1 in Automotive (including parts supplier, material suppliers).

  2. Manage tasks among different business culture (ex: USA, Japan, China).
  3. High energy individual with outstanding people skills, organizational and time management skills.



  1. Will require business trips outside of USA. Mainly Canada, Mexico, China, Japan and Europe.
