Process Engineer

Job Purpose Summary:

The Process Engineer will be responsible for supporting ongoing efforts to improve the safety and operations of the production lines in the Fowlerville Plant. The Process Engineer will work closely with production technicians and leadership as well as with cross functional teams to ensure the plant runs safely, efficiently and produces the highest quality material possible. With a lead focus on process improvement and support, the Engineer will ensure that targets for asset utilization, scrap, first pass prime/yield are achieved. The Process Engineer will also support numerous capital improvement projects from inception to implementation aimed at improving the process safety and efficiency of the production lines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide process support and continuous improvements for the production lines/areas assigned
  2. Determine root cause failures for process related issues using statistical methods and recommend changes
  3. Work with Technology Group on scaling up new products on their assigned lines/areas
  4. Work with Quality Group on determining root cause failures for customer related complaints; recommend and implement corrective actions
  5. Provide safety and quality improvements for the production lines/areas assigned

  • Increase plant safety performance by working on process safety projects, both capital and non-capital
  • Reduction of process related downtime (increase asset utilization)
  • Reduction of process related scrap and non-conforming material
  • Successful completion of capital projects: in time and on budget

 

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licensures and Certifications):

  • 5 -10 yrs experience as Process/Production Engineer in Manufacturing facility, preferably in plastics compounder or molder
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical)
  • Computer skills; statistical analysis
